Print Stained

Give me prints but only if they're old.  Seems like seasons ago we have seen Stella McCartney's fruit print, Dolce and Gabbana's Fruit and Vegetable print, Miu Miu's cat prints, or Prada's banana print.  This season we have no seen a trend for bold prints and patterns like those of two winters ago.  It was just early summer I was able to get hold of the Dolce & Gabbana eggplant skirt.  A skirt whose print is now vintage, but hey, I'll take it!  To me, these prints better with age.  Why? With clothes, prints and their runways and lives are very real.  They are tangible and their memory will live on.  It's 2013, almost 2014, wear a print from 2011 even better.  We'll remember why it was so hot on the market and it'll be even more spectacular when you bring back its name.

Castello Cavalcanti

Prada and Wes Anderson are at it again creating Castello Cavalcanti.  This is the latest project between the fashion house and talented director since the Prada Candy series.  The 8-minute film takes us to Italy in the 50s.  It stars Jason Schwartzman as a race-car driver fleeing the scene of a crash.  The short has Anderson's signatures including bright hues of yellow and saturated reds.  You can view the full short below  or here at Prada.

The New Legacy

The announcement that Nicolas Ghesquière will be taking over Louis Vuitton's womens wear is like hearing wedding bells before Kate and William's wedding.  It's out of control and that's in the best way possible.  We've all been wondering what Ghesquière's been up to since he left his creative director position at Balenciaga.  Questions have been flying if he had been recruited to join Jil Sander's team.  But, no even better.  Joining forces at Louis Vuitton to replace Marc Jacob's role in womens wear.

Nicolas Ghesquière's leave has left fashion a bit lost and confused, almost like breaking up with a boyfriend.  Why does he have this effect?  Ghesquière is one of the few designers who have the ability to pilot mind blowing trends and make them stick for the rest of us humans.  He's reimagined and changed our generation and the trends us average folk follow.

So whats to come for Nicolas Vuitton?  We will definitely be seeing a shift from the feminine carousels of Paris held up by embroidered organza, but who knows what Ghesquière will bring.  Maybe something bold, dark and ominous.

Real vs. Steal: Hologram Wallet

Today I explore the hologram wallet trend.  Yes, the Comme des Garcons is all that we love, but it's hard to come by as it was a limited release.  This season Marc by Marc Jacobs came out with his own version of the CDG wallet and believe it or not its way cheaper!

Comme des Garcons wallet is sold out, sorry guys.

The Grand Budapest Hotel

If you don't already know this about me, then you probably don't know much about me.  I am an avid follower of Wes Anderson who religiously watches his movies and adore his styles.  Today is the world premiere trailer for his new film The Grand Budapest Hotel.  A trailer that I've been waiting for since the announcement of the film in 2012, immediately after his release of Moonrise Kingdom.  The A-list cast includes his favorites: Adrien Brody, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Ed Norton, Willem Defoe, and more.  All I have to say is that I'm so very excited, especially about the pink hotel...

Hail Mary

Literally have no words to describe this except for the fact that there must be fashion gods out there.  Seriously, holy shit.  How in the world can one create such beautiful pieces.  Definitely makes the top for my favorites this fashion week.  Mary always finds the perfect combination between patterns and prints, it really blows my mind.  This collection features bright colors and even dresses with prints of men's dress shoes.  I can't even start to describe my love for this collection, I don't think I have the right words to do the collection justice...
